2010 SMSD Art Show

Well, she did it again! Katie made the cut for her grade at her school for an art exhibition with our school district. This is the second year in a row she has done this...(She was even at a new school with a new art teacher, so there was no prejudice :)...) We are proud of her accomplishment. What a fun experience for her, too!

The ONE reason I like Facebook...

We've been friends since the 6th grade...yes, since we were 11 years old.
My years at Cumberland Christian School were, hands down, the happiest of my youth, and MARY was a BIG part of that!
Here we are at the tender age of 18...We really thought we had life figured out.
Full of hopes and dreams, for sure.
Funny.

We haven't seen each other for over 11 years, right after our oldest boys were born...and time marched on...
...Then along came FACEBOOK!
Need I say more?!
And here we are, just a breath away from our 40's!!!!
How in the WORLD is this possible!?!?

Recently, we purposely planned to both be in our hometown at the same time...FINALLY!
I can't describe how great it felt to get together. I felt rejuvenated, for sure.

It was almost as if time stood still; time was not an issue---

just FRIENDSHIP.
And I enjoyed comparing notes, catching up and OF COURSE, reminiscing about earlier years.
We cried tears from serious LAUGHTER, and even posed as the ROCK STARS that we are!
(I decided NOT to post THOSE pictures.)
Furthermore, can anyone else describe how cool it was to see our kids playing together,
laughing and having a good time?
Too cool.
(Our oldest boys are 11...just like we were when we first met...)

In any case, if anyone ever doubts it, here's a reminder to you all

Grandma's Fence

"When we're helping we're happy..."
Building a privacy fence for Grandma Pat was a family affair that made everyone happy.
Everyone wanted in on the action, including my 4 children and 3 little nephews.
The Wichita winds made things even more exciting---
you should've seen the little nephews trying to carry planks in the wind--super funny!
We were honestly thankful for a chance to do some real yard work and perform a much-needed service for a loved-one.

Yes, I just wanted to forewarn you! Back in February, a dear, sneaky, little squirt hid our family camera in the dark corner of a bookshelf...and I found it broken! Without our camera, life sure did lose some luster let me tell ya! It's amazing how precious photos are to me...

Over the past few months, a few friends and family have graciously appeased me by letting me steal away their cameras to capture a few shots here and there to keep some memories alive...And I've finally got some of them downloaded to my own files! AAAHHH- it feels SO good.

So! Don't be too shocked over the next few weeks to see random postings from MONTHS ago!
